Over 100 cars lined up in front of Calvary Chapel in Asan yesterday afternoon for a diaper and formula drive.
In a 2-part event, The Giving Tree Preschool Centers held a diaper and formula donation drive last Sunday where they saw overwhelming community support.
Maelonie Tamondong, the owner of The Giving Tree Preschool Centers, says: “The Giving Tree’s’ mission is to help families with young children.”
She says families have lost their jobs but babies still need to eat.
The Giving Tree organized the drive and distribution in partnership with Calvary Chapel and Safe Haven Guam
In an interview with PNC, Tamondong says her team was responding to an obvious need.
“So we’ve done a drive earlier in the year and we don’t plan these ahead of time. We just kind of see that there is a need for it so I don’t want to say that we won’t do this again, I really do think that there is going to be a time that we’re going to do this again. If there is a need, we are going to try our best to, you know, help the community,” she said.
Tamondong thanks The Calvary Chapel and Safe Haven Guam and hopes that more businesses will step up and help the community however they can.
