Guam – The island came together to celebrate the life of former Guam Congressman Vicente Tomas Garrido Blaz during a memorial mass held at the Hagatna Cathedral Saturday.
Blaz served as the island’s representative in Congress during the 1980’s but is also remembered as the first Chamorro to reach the rank of Brigadier General in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Pale’ Michael Crisotomo presided over Saturday’s Memorial Mass, the Homily was delivered by Father Thomas McGrath and Dr Robert Underwood shared the Eulogy.
Congressman Blaz will be interned next to his wife Ann at the Arlington Cemetery on February 25th.
A viewing will be held in Fairfax Virgina at the Everly Funeral Home on February 24th.
Blaz passed away from an undisclosed illness on January 8th in Virgina. He would have turned 86 in February.
