Congresswoman Bordallo Congratulates Rear Admiral Gumataotao


Guam – Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo has issued her congratulations to Rear Admiral Peter A. Gumataotao on his promotion. Rear Admiral Gumataotao will be assigned as Commander of Carrier Strike Group Eleven in San Diego, California. Rear Admiral Gumataotao is currently serving as Commander of Navy Region Korea; Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea; and Commander, Naval Component, U.S. Forces Korea, United Nations Command, Korea.

“Rear Admiral Peter Gumataotao has been selected for a new assignment by Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, and Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Gary Roughead. This new assignment is significant as it will entail a promotion to 2 Stars for Admiral Gumataotao (Rear Admiral Upper Half), pending an official announcement and confirmation by the Senate. He will lead Carrier Strike Group 11 which includes the flagship USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) and several combat and support ships.   Rear Admiral Gumataotao continues to make us all proud of his accomplishments as a flag officer in the United States Navy. I congratulate Rear Admiral Gumataotao and we commend him for his leadership and his dedication to our nation.”
