Congresswoman Bordallo Mourns Passing of Cy O’Brien, WW II Marine Who Served On Guam

Guam – Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo has issued the following statement on the passing of Cyril “Cy” O’Brien, a former United States Marine combat correspondent who served during the Liberation of Guam in World War II:

“I join the people of Guam in mourning the loss of Cy O’Brien,” Congresswoman Bordallo said today.  “I extend my thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and loved ones.  Mr. O’Brien’s coverage of the Liberation of Guam, the bravery of America’s Marines, soldiers, sailors, and airmen, and the experiences of the war survivors during the Liberation, provided America with a unique perspective of Guam’s Liberation for all who study Guam History and World War II in the Pacific. As a leader in the 3rd Marine Division Association, Mr. O’Brien returned to Guam on many occasions for Liberation Day and to lobby in support of Guam War Claims. He will be dearly missed by his many friends on Guam.”
