Guam – Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo attended a joint session of Congress to receive the State of the Union from President Barack Obama.
“During tonight’s State of the Union, President Obama highlighted the need to revitalize our economy and get people back to work so that our nation remains competitive in a 21st century global marketplace.”
“The President shared his vision on what we must do to address the challenges ahead. There will be a concerted effort to reduce federal spending by targeting unproductive federal programs for cuts. More strategic and wise investments in infrastructure and job creation will help grow the economy. Although the details of the budget have yet to be released, I expect the Administration to support Guam’s infrastructure needs so that the military build-up can stay on track.”
“I believe that Congress will have difficult choices to make as we grapple with the federal deficit, and I am working to ensure that Guam’s needs are met in the budget process.”
Congresswoman Bordallo invited Judiciary of Guam Chief Justice F. Philip Carbullido to be her guest, and he viewed the State of the Union from the House Gallery.
