Container Concept Makes Business Dream a Reality

Container homes are becoming a popular alternative to new construction in the states, and now a business woman on Guam adopted the concept to help make the dream of owning her own store a reality.

Guam – Jonte De Leon didn’t let the high cost of rent get in the way of her dream of owning her own business. When she found out her Tamuning home was in a commercial zone the paddle board enthusiast set up shop in her front yard.

She opened the SUP Shack in November of last year. “SUP” stands for Stand Up Paddle Boards and if you’re not ready to purchase your own paddle board De Leon also offers lessons and delivers rentals right to the beach in Tumon.

The paddle board business is something De Leon has been developing over the past two years.

“I actually had been doing the market research to bring paddle boards here and possibly start a business about little over two years ago,” De Leon told PNC. “I started a group known as Sup Guam 671 and that group was basically my test market… last year i decided that okay now’s the time, soon rather than later.”

De Leon hopes to move into a bigger shop in the future but for now if you’d like to find the sup shack start by visiting their website at www.thesupshackguam.com where you’ll find contact information as well as a map to the store.
