“Cope North” Under Way, Over Head; Joint U.S. & Japan Air Force Excercises

Guam – The largest Cope North exercises ever executed are underway in the skies above Guam.

Cope North is a joint exercise between the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and Japan Air Self-Defense Force aimed at improving co-ordination between the various air forces. 

The exercises began on Sunday and will last for about 2 weeks.

The annual excercise bring Japanese and U.S. Air Forces togehther for training and this year they are flying 50% more sorties than last year.

This is the eleventh time the United States and Japan have conducted a Cope North exercise at Andersen.
