Guam – With legislative approval capped for only one additional, non-converted charter school, the Guam Charter School Council made the tough decision today to choose between two charter hopefuls.

The first presenters to make their case to the Charter School Council was “Science Is Fun and Awesome Academy” or “SIFA”.

The academy’s administrators explained that the curriculum would focus on STEAM or science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.

Following SIFA, was “Career Tech High Academy” led by Gregorio Calvo and former Governor Felix Camacho.

Both schools asked board members to promptly decide on the next Guam Charter School by the end of the meeting.

After much debate, board members motioned for the acceptance of SIFA and the conditional approval of Career Tech pending additional funding.
