Guam – Vice Speaker BJ Cruz wants the public to know that the Legislature approved funding for auto maintenance and repairs at the Guam Police Department.
Cruz is responding to statements made by Governor’s Homeland Security Advisor, Former Senator and Acting Deputy Chief of Police Frank Ishizaki
in a Monday editorial he authored on the Pacific Daily News. Ishizaki wrote that there were no funds for parts and repairs and the budget does include the cost of maintenance or cars.
Not only did the Legislature appropriate Police Services Funds for automotive repairs and parts in the last two budget cycles to support the
Department’s fleet maintenance crew, the level of appropriation for these items were increased since the last time Ishizaki was involved in the budget
process as a Senator.
