Guam – A Civilian Volunteer Police Reserve officer has been arrested for allegedly illegally hunting deer with a high caliber rifle.
According to Sgt. Mark Aguon, a conservation officer, a concerned citizen called gpd with reports of a suspicious person carrying a firearm. Once GPD arrived, Aguon says they found the suspect had shot a deer. CVPR officer Danny Chiguina was then brought into the Agat precinct by GPD and was arrested by conservation officers for illegal hunting. Aguon says Chiguina was using a “high caliber, high power rifle which is not allowed for hunting in the area Chiguina was found. Aguon also noted that Chiguina did not have a proper license or proper hunting orange, or gear. According to GPD PIO Officer Paul Tapao, the Guam Police Department is currently investigating Chiguina. Tapao says that Chiguina is suspended from the program pending the completion of an investigation into his arrest. He was booked and released.
