Guam – Almost a year ago, family, friends and fellow Servicemembers, bid farewell to Chief Warrant Officer 2 Joseph Manglona just days before he flew out to attend mobilization training before deploying to Afghanistan. Tonight, family and friends welcome him back home.
CW2 Manglona is scheduled to arrive on Continental Flight 001 from Camp Shelby where he went through his demobilization process.
He deployed as an individual augmentee and was attached to the 277th Maintenance Company, Georgia Army National Guard, in support of Overseas Contingency Training (OCO, formerly called the Global War on Terror or GWOT) and Operation Enduring Freedom.
The Guam National Guard currently has two other Soldiers deployed overseas, one in Afghanistan and another in Kosovo. There are 11 Airmen still deployed in the Middle East, two of whom are in Afghanistan, in support of Operations Enduring Freedom.
The Guam Army National Guard’s infantry battalion, the 1-294th Infantry Regiment, has been identified in a recent Notification of Sourcing announcement to deploy with the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Hawaii Army National Guard.
