Daiki Maru 7 Dislodged From Reef, Ready for Demolition

Apra, Harbor – (April 12) – Joint Region Marianas has annoucned that a contract salvage team has dislodged the Daiki Maru 7 from the reef in outer Apra Harbor.  

Contracts salvage workers are now preparing the vessel for demolition in outer Apra Harbor.

This phase represents the final salvage portion of operations where the vessel will be dissembled in preparation for transport to shore for proper disposal.

Since the fishing vessel ran aground in Apra Harbor Feb. 13, all recoverable hazardous materials from the vessel have been removed while the Navy and other partner agencies have taken continuous steps to mitigate environmental damage.
