She recalls, “As the Chairperson for this committee for the last several years I have come to know that the young women who join and participate each year leave with a deeper respect and a profound sense of appreciation for our island, our manamko, our culture, and the heroic brave liberators. They are so moved at the stories of the survivors and the patriotism of our people. These young women build life long friendships with each other and grow from the experience.”
Last years contestants and sponsors took home over $60,000 in commission in which they used the money for tuition, off island trips, shopping, sports equipment, community improvements, and so much more.
