Guam – Another delay in phase 2 of GPA’s bid for solar energy.
According to GPA renewables phase ii bid opening has been delayed until august 18. GPA says the extension is necessary for GPA to respond to the bidders questioned. Back on march 17, GPA cancelled its original bid for phase ii renewables to re bid out, this time requiring potential bidders to include energy storage in the contract. This sudden need to cancel the original bid and add energy storage is borne from diagnostics GPA has obtained from phase 1 renewables in Dan Dan. GPA maintains that the solar energy being produced at Dan Dan is inconsistent. GPA maintains that requiring potential bidders to include energy storage is important to maintaining consistency at Guam’s only solar plant. The procurement for GPA’s original phase ii renewable energy began in June of 2014.
