Guam – DFS held an orientation of it’s GUMA or Guam unique merchandise and arts incubator program on Saturday in the DFS training room.
The GUMA program was developed by the Galaide group and DFS to assist passionate and motivated artists, cultural producers and entrepreneurs identify their most marketable Guam products.
The program will help to train, provide tools and provide support to interested cultural entrepreneurs. DFS will also provide a place for these cultural entrepreneurs to sell certain products.
“We would look for two or three products that would be commissioned by DFS that DFS merchandisers feel would have the highest success potential and they would commission a couple of collections perhaps that they would exclusively carry in DFS and be in that higher price point again there’s that opportunity there but overall the idea is to help you succeed independently as a business and to be able to go beyond just DFS as well,” said Galaide Group’s Clifford Guzman.
Those interested must apply. GUMA DFS will compile and categorize all applications received and will announce the first clients of this pilot program in January.
