Diseha offers affordable clothing for plus-size women

Specializing in curvy with a sprinkle of petite, Diseha is a family-friendly boutique shop located in Hagatna.

There’s a new shop in town. This time offering affordable clothing for plus-size women.

Specializing in curvy with a sprinkle of petite, Diseha opened its doors on March 2, 2019 with a soft opening and blessing. This family-friendly boutique shop is centrally located in Hagatna, which owner Lou Suarez says is close to home. Named after their three year old daughter Diseha, Suarez says the name packs a lot of meaning into the store.

“Well, Diseha means hope wish and desire in Chamorro and for me it was a play on words regarding shopping. When we women go out shopping many times were hoping and wishing to find that perfect something,” Suarez said.

Suarez says that shopping as a curvy woman on a budget does come with its challenges.

“I found that when curvy women went out to look for cute and curvy we did have options but most of the time we would find pieces that were not true to size or would make us look frumpy and not perfect for us,” Suarez said.

Suarez adds that plus-size clothing is oftentimes more expensive. Therefore, she hopes to provide affordable clothing for all her customers.

“If we have something in our sprinkle of petite section, it will be the same price if we have the exact same item in our curvy section,” Suarez said.

When sourcing for clothes, Suarez focuses on comfort over style. However, she adds that choosing comfort over style doesn’t mean you have to compromise on being stylish.

“We specialize in casual curvy women’s clothing but our pieces can be dressed up or dressed down so we carry pieces that work for all ages really. I mean you’re only as old as you let yourself feel. So if you’re a woman of a certain age, we can help you find that piece that will make you look great and feel confident,” Suarez said.

Models from Pitbull Empire, and Miss Guam Extra 2019 were invited over to feature items from her curvy and petite collections.

Clothing is not all that you’ll find at this cute boutique. Suarez says that she hopes to fill her store with products made on Guam or sold by local entrepreneurs.

For example, CHamorrita cosmetics are exclusively sold here. Diseha is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
