DOC confirms death of corrections officer due to COVID-19

The Department of Corrections has confirmed the death of one of its officers due to COVID-19.

According to Major Antone F. Aguon Correctional Facility Assistant Superintendent, the DOC officer who died was Corrections Officer Glenn F. Martinez.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Corrections Officer Glenn F. Martinez, a well-respected and dedicated member of the Guam Department of Corrections family for over 23 years. He passed away Tuesday from complications related to COVID-19,” Aguon stated in a news release.

According to Aguon, the loss of officer Martinez is devastating and will be felt by many, and his character and contributions as Corrections Officer will be remembered by all who worked alongside him each day.

“We are grateful for his years of service and he will be sorely missed. DOC is committed to honoring his memory and never forgetting his courage and dedication to the department and the people of Guam. The entire DOC family send our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family during this difficult time,” Aguon said.
