Guam – An inmate at the Department of Corrections Mangilao compound was discovered dead in his cell this morning.

The inmate whose identity has not been released was housed in Post 3, and was allegedly alive at 530 this morning. However 30 minutes later DOC Director Tony Lamorena states the inmate was discovered unresponsive by DOC Officers.

“He was housed at our medical facility, he was getting medical treatment, he was in the cell by himself. Nurse was immediately called, Guam fire was called, GPD was called,” explained Lamorena.

According to Lamorena, a DOC-GMH physician assessed the inmate at the scene and declared the inmate deceased, further stating that preliminary reports suggests that the inmate died of natural causes. The scene was released and cleared by GPD.
