Good news for GMH as the hospital will now provide free Wi-Fi for patients and staff.
Guam – Docomo Pacific, one of the area’s largest telecommunications companies, has installed wi-fi in GMH. The Wi-Fi was installed by the telecommunications company, free of charge. Docomo Pacific CEO Jonathan Kriegel says that Docomo has run 48 access points through four floors of the hospital, excluding restricted areas. According to Kriegel, this should provide coverage to the whole hospital. Kriegel says that working with GMH is quote “a natural partnership.” He spoke on what Wi-Fi means to hospital patients.
“It gives patients, staff, the team here access to wi-fi immediately, wherever they are to search the internet, to learn about what’s going on, to stay in touch with family, and you know i think it’s a win-win. I think it provides comfort to people when there here, they can quickly research information that the doctors are sort of sharing with them so they can form their own views, they can stay in touch with family and friends who are maybe not on the island right now,” said Kriegel
GMH Spokeswoman June Perez says that a press conference will be scheduled to announce the technical details behind the wi-fi project. Stay tuned to PNC for more details.
