Some other island physicians are calling for more Covid-19 testing.
Dr. Vince Akimoto, a family physician at the American Medical Center, says more testing needs to be done for the coronavirus.
He faults both the federal government and GovGuam for not being more aggressive in conducting tests.
He said the failure to test results is a failure to treat the COVID-19.
“We need to reach out to our partners who are doing a better job of community screening in Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. We need to test now. We need to strip away all obstacles for doctors like me who’s wearing a mask because I just screened six people in my clinic this morning. People are afraid. People want to know. Businesses are being shut down because employers don’t want to bring people in who might have been exposed. We need data. So any delays in testing because of some cockamamie stupid bureaucracy need to stop yesterday,” Akimoto said.
The Joint Information Center has declined to say how many tests are available. Nor will they say how many tests have been done or how many tests are left.
However, the governor this morning told NewsTalk K-57’s Patti Arroyo that more tests have been ordered and if we run out, she said we can send samples to Hawaii for testing.
