$50 Thousand in Equipment & Supplies Stolen From DOE’s Piti Warehouse

Guam -The Maintenance Division for the Guam Department of Education has made the necessary repairs to continue with day to day operations after more than $50-thousand dollars of equipment and supplies were taken from the DOE Warehouse in Piti over the weekend.

The break-in was discovered early Monday morning and the Guam Police Department was called to investigate immediately.  Maintenance Manager Billy Cruz says the vandals entered the building from upstairs and then made their way to the secured store house on the main floor, using heavy equipment and the Department’s fork lift to bust locks.

“They practically went into all our offices and our supply rooms” said Cruz.  “They managed to open all the deadbolts that were locked and get what they wanted to get.”

According to Cruz the vandals took brushcutters, tools, $30,000 worth of copper wire and Cruz’s DOE issued laptop computer.  The Guam Police Department is investigating the break-in but Cruz believes at least five people were involved.
