Guam – Guam’s love for the Donne, or hot pepper, will be celebrated this weekend as the village of Mangilao hosts its 5th Annual Donne Festival.
The festivities will kick off Friday evening at 6pm with the opening ceremony’s and Queen’s Coronation. Several competitions celebrating the Donne will also be held throughout the weekend including for the most beautiful plant, and best Kadon Pika, Donne Dinance and Pika Desert. Festival Committee Member Karina Bautista invites everyone to also enjoy live entertainment, a petting zoo, and village market.
Mangilao Mayor Nito Blas says his village has a rich history in agriculture and is a great place to grow Donne.
The festival will be open from 5 to 10pm on Friday, 10am to 10pm on Saturday and from 10am to 6pm on Sunday. The festival grounds are located next to the Mangilao Church on Route 10.
