Guam – The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) Project Kariñu “Loving Our Babies” and the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center Child and Adolescent Services Division Para I Famagu’on “For the Children” have joined efforts to help celebrate the week of May 4-10, 2014 as “Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week”.
Families, staff, and community partners within Guam’s Systems of Care programs, are invited to participate in various activities scheduled for the week including the following events. A complete schedule of events and public awareness efforts is attached.

– Celebratory Masses:
May 4, 2014, 7:30 a.m., Agana Cathedral; 10:30 a.m., St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Sinajaña
– DPHSS-Project Kariñu Open House:
May 6, 2014, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Terlaje Professional Building, Hagåtña
– Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center-Para I Famagu’on Open House:
May 8, 2014, 1 p.m.-5 p.m., J&G Commercial Building, Hagåtña
– Awareness Wave:
May 9, 2014, 4 p.m.-6 p.m., ITC intersection, Tamuning
“Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week”, which is celebrated as part of Mental Health Awareness Month, provides our community additional opportunities to learn more about the different services that are available to assist children and their families. Moreover, these events help to pay tribute to the work Guam’s families, service-providers, and community partners continue to do toward improving the quality of life of those affected by social, emotional, and behavioral health challenges.
