DPHSS Says Beware of Phone Scam

The Department of Public Health and Social Services is warning residents to beware of a phone scam where callers pose as officials from the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program and ask for personal information.

Guam – According to a news release, residents are receiving unsolicited calls from what appears to be the SNAP toll-free information number 1-800-221-5689.

Officials say that scammers deceive residents by saying that they are helping fill out an application for the program and requesting for personal information, including credit card numbers and other non-related services such as home security systems.

DPHSS says this is not the process for applying for the benefits. If you suspect that you are receiving suspicious calls, please call 735-7354.
