DPW Asks For More Bus Drivers

Bus Drivers Fill Public Hearing Room

Guam – The Department of Public Works went up for it’s budget hearing this morning.

The public hearing room was filled mostly with the agency’s bus drivers. The agency is requesting for money to fund the operation of 120-125 buses and the bus drivers were there in full support to make sure their budgets aren’t cut. Currently DPW has 134 buses but only 110 are operational. The agency is asking to fund 174 bus driver positions because some are only part time or on light duty. DPW explains that there are actually only 107-108 active full time bus drivers behind the wheel and about 110 buses in operation.
