DPW Gets $31.7K Grant From U.S. DOT


Guam – The Guam Department of Public Works has been awarded $31,799 from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The money comes from Section 405 – Occupant Protection Incentive Grant.

The Purpose of the Incentive Grant is to encourage States and Territories to adopt and implement effective programs to reduce highway deaths and injuries resulting from individuals riding unrestrained or improperly restrained in motor vehicles.

The Department of Public Works – Office of Highway Safety will administer Section 405 funding to implement and enforce occupant protection programs.

Funds will be distributed to the Guam Police Department and the Guam International Airport Authority – Airport Police Division to continue their high visibility enforcement operations throughout our island roadways.

Funds will also be used to produce Public Service Announcements to educate the general public on the Guam Seat Be4lt Law as amended and to remind the general public to “Buckle Up … Its the Law” and “Seat Belt Save Lives.”
