Repairs are coming to the Atantano Bridge on Route 1 in Marine Corps Drive. However, who will make the repairs is still unknown as the Department of Public Works has made the project available for companies to submit their bids online.
DPW has opened online bidding to contractors who may be interested in taking on the project. Temporary repair is needed for the bridge, which carries Route 1 over the Atantano River in the village of Piti.
The work will include bracing of piers, crack-sealing, and beam seat extenders in order to carry the weight for legal loads on Guam.
Also included in the project plans are improving scour vulnerability and preventing further corrosion of the reinforced steel already in place.
Sealed bids should be submitted in duplicate at the 2nd Floor, Division of Highways Building Room 201, in Tamuning no later than 2 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2020.
A pre-bid conference will be held tomorrow Dec. 3, 2019, at 9 a.m. All prospective bidders are encouraged to attend and items discussed during pre-bid conferences will be made part of the contract document.
