DPW: Overnight Lane Closers TONIGHT Thru Tuesday Morning at Hagatna River Bridge Construction Site

Guam –  The Department of Public Works has issued a reminder that from 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. tonight, September 6 and every evening through Tuesday morning, September 10, Marine Corps Drive between Routes 4 and 8 in Hagåtña will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
These evening lane closures are necessary as the contractor facilitates the removal of the existing bridge abutments and installation of the new bridge deck. Construction signs and personnel will be in place to direct traffic. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to obey all traffic signs.

Motorists are also advised that on Saturday, September 7, between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 p.m., there will be intermittent lane closures on both the north and south bound lanes on Marine Corps Drive between the Routes 4 and 8. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times to maintain access. Additionally, there will be intermittent lane closures at the intersection of Route 1 and 8.

These daytime closures are necessary for the safety of construction personnel as the contractor facilitates the installation of a DOD ductbank, excavation for a traffic signal pole, removal and restriping of the right turn lanes from Route 8 onto Route 1 and the removal of existing striping within the lane switch zone.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution when traveling in the area and to observe all signs and construction personnel. The DPW thanks the public for their continued patience.
