DPW: Talofofo Bridge Closed for 2 Hours Next Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday Mornings

173

Guam – The Department of Public Works and Black Construction advise all motorists that the Talofofo Bridge will be closed from 9 am to 11 am next Tuesday, February 7, Wednesday, February 8 and again on Thursday, February 9.

This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of motorists and construction crews as they remove and demolish three (3) 105-foot long girders, each weighing 70 tons.

Roads will be closed between the intersection of Route 4 and Route 4A (entry from Route 4 into the village proper), on the northern side of the Talofofo Bridge and the entrance to Talofofo Bay beach on the southern side. Access will be restricted to local traffic only. Signage will be posted to remind motorists of this road closure.

Drivers are urged to slow down, proceed with caution and seek alternative routes during the road closure. Traffic controls will be in place. Delays and increased travel time should be anticipated if traveling through this area. Emergency officials and government agencies have been informed.

The Department of Public Works regrets any inconvenience to the public as a result these temporary closures. Due to the extreme nature of the work and to ensure the safety of the construction crews it was determined that this work be performed during daylight hours.

The 100% federally funded project awarded to Black Construction includes the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Talofofo Bridge.

The Department of Public Works thanks the public for their continued patience as they work to improve our roads and bridges for the safety and well being of our people.
