The Department of Public Works (DPW) will be reducing traffic to one lane at both the east and west approaches to Ajayan Bridge along Route 4 at the boundary of Inarajan and Merizo.
Only 1 vehicle will be permitted at a time to cross Ajayan Bridge beginning on Wednesday, June 17.
DPW crews will be performing striping, signage, and stabilization work at Ajayan Bridge to prevent further erosion along the embankment.
In addition to the one lane, one vehicle bridge access, the speed limit will be reduced. Traffic control will be in place and stop signs will be installed.
Ajayan Bridge is Load Posted at 16 tons and vehicles in excess should take alternate routes to abide by this restriction. Residents and motorists are asked to drive with caution in this area.
DPW regrets this inconvenience to residents but the agency said the work is necessary to ensure the safety of all motorists traversing Ajayan Bridge.
