Guam – A Mustang and an SUV collided head on along the back road to Andersen Tuesday evening sending 5 people to the hospital.

The accident occurred in front of the Dime Store in Mangilao. The 911 call came in about 4:20 Tuesday afternoon.
The accident shut down Route 15 for a while while emergency crews untangled the vehicles and rescued the drivers and passengers.
Guam Fire Department Spokesman Joey San Nicolas says the jaws of life had to be used to pry open the Mustang. The driver of the vehicle and a passenger were pulled from inside. A 49 year old man was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in Stable condition, said GMH Nursing Shirley Pinera. The other person from the Mustang was initially transferred to Naval Hospital and then brought to GMH she said, also in stable condition.
As for the 3 passengers in the SUV, Pinera said one was a 44 year old woman and the other 2 were her children, an 18 year old and a 6 year old, both males.
The 18 year old is being released said Pinera, while the woman and the 6 year old were still being evaluated in the Emergency Room as of 7:30 pm Tuesday evening. However Pinera said that neither of their injuries were life threatening.
The cause of he accident remains under investigation.
