Guam – Guam Police have arrested 27 year old Drake Smau in connection with the theft of some cash and a cell phone from the Westin Hotel.
According to a release from GPD Spokesman Lt. Art Paulino the 2 thefts were reported the afternoon of June 30th during a fundraising activity for a private school.
One victim reported that a Samsung cell phone valued at $600-dollars was stolen from a banquet dinner table. The other victim said an envelop with $500-dollars in it was also stolen.
Lt. Paulino says that Officers reviewed the closed circuit video tape of the banquet and saw a suspect who was identified by the Westin as Smau.
Yesterday, Tuesday July 9th, Smau was arrested at his home in Liguan Terrace in Dededo. He has been booked and confined on 2 counts of felony theft.

MEDIA RELEASE RE: 13-19337 & 13-19698 FELONY THEFT OF PROPERTY
On June 30, 2013 at about 2pm., Officers from the Tamuning-Tumon Precinct Command (TTPC) were dispatched to two theft complaints which occurred at Westin Hotel during a fundraising activity for a private school. Complainants reported to police that a Samsung Galaxy cell phone valued at $600.00 dollars was stolen from a banquet dinner table (Re: 13-19337) likewise for an envelope containing about $500.00 in mixed denominations (Re: 13-19698).
Officers reviewed a close circuit (CCTV) recording and noted that the alleged responsible to be:

FROM ILANGILANG LIGUAN TERRACE DEDEDO
Who was identified by Westin Hotel as an employee assigned to the fund raising function.
At 11am today, July 09, 2013 Officers from the Dededo Precinct Command had apprehended Mr. Smau at his place of residence and was transported to the TTPC where he was later formerly charged for the offense of: FELONY THEFT OF PROPERTY (2) COUNTS.
Mr. Smau was later Booked & Confined at the Guam Detention Center.
