Driver in Chalan Pago car crash has died

Guam – A man involved in a car crash on Monday has succumbed to his injuries.

According to Guam Police Department Spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao the victim is 20-year old Deon Cruz from Talofofo. Cruz was in the hospital for nearly three days before he succumbed to his injuries.

“Officers from the Hagatna Precinct Command responded to a two auto crash that occurred on Route 4 Chalan Kanton Tasi, Ordot Chalan Pago by Sunshine Plaza.  As a result of the crash, the operator of one of the vehicles involved, 20-year-old, Deon Cruz from Talofofo was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained.
On Thursday, February 7th, traffic investigators learned that Deon Cruz had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at GMH by attending physicians. “
Police say that the case remains open as they investigate whether speed, alcohol or drugs were contributing factors to the fatal crash. An autopsy report is pending.
