DYA Conducts Surprise Drug Test on Employees

Guam – The Department of Youth Affairs conducted an early morning surprise drug testing with the aid of Department of Administration.

Testing was prompted to promote the department’s policy of a safe and drug free workplace- not because of suspicion that peace officers are consuming illegal drugs.

As per Director Adonis Mendiola, “This is a standard which the Governor and Lt. Governor want to make certain that our public safety personnel are not only enforcing the law, but abiding by it.”

Results are pending clarification from an off-island laboratory. Any employee who produces a positive test for an illegal substance will receive disciplinary action accordingly.
