DYA Guard Charged With Burglary & Conspiracy to Commit Robbery

Guam – Agents from GPD’s Juvenile Investigations Section have arrested a guard at the Department of Youth Affairs on charges of  burglary and attempted robbery.

33 year old Sandra Ann Mesa of Yigo has been charged with Burglary, Attempted Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Criminal Facilitation, Official Misconduct, Jurisdiction over an Adult, Promoting Prison Contraband and Providing Escape Implements.  

She was booked and confined.

According to GPD Officer A.J. Balajadia, Mesa is accused of befriending two former DYA female clients, where she worked as a DYA Female Guard, and providing them with favors while they were confined at the Department of Youth Affairs by providing tobacco products, and cellular phone privileges.

Mesa also is alleged to have provided one of the girls with a shackle key so the girl could escape from DYA.

Officer Balajadia states that recently, when the two female clients were no longer confined at DYA,  Mesa allegedly made contact with them and coordinated the burglary of three residence and the attempted burglary and robbery of a fourth.

Both female minors have been confined at DYA and are facing additional charges which are pending.

The investigation is on going.
