During her daily online news conference, the governor recognized those who provide E911 services as COVID Heroes.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero says that many front liners in the fight against COVID-19 aren’t visible and expressed her appreciation for emergency dispatchers as part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
“During this pandemic, their skills are used to evaluate the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 before a patient even reaches the hospital. Their work dictates our response. This work is very stressful, demanding, and can be physically draining. When we talk about the work of our front liners, many of them aren’t visible. Our dispatchers work behind the scenes offering support to EMTs, firefighters, police officers, and anyone who comes face to face with COVID-19. To all the public safety dispatchers, thank you,” the governor said.
The governor is encouraging residents to use the hashtag #COVIDHeroesGU on their social media posts to highlight individuals, groups, and businesses who are stepping up to assist the island’s COVID-19 response efforts.
