Earth Day 2012: Cleaning Up a Dededo Eyesore

202

Guam – Volunteers from EOD MU5, Guam EPA, I recycle, and the Dededo Mayor’s office cleaned a two-hundred yard section of pipeline road in Dededo Saturday that has been used as an illegal dumping site.

In total, three dump truck loads of non-recyclable material were pulled from the site. More than 60 tires, one ton of steel, one hundred pounds of plastic bottles, and ten bags of aluminum cans were separated and made ready for recycling.

“It feels good to help to keep our Guam clean. EOD MU5 is proud to call this beautiful island our home and we are happy to participate and partner in  clean up efforts,” said event organizer,  Navy Diver James Taft of EOD MU5.
