“Why he is not here, again, I have no idea…But for tonight’s meeting, we will regrettably have to put him as an unexcused absence.” –GEB Chairman Peter Alecxis Ada.

Guam – Is there infighting with Yigo Mayor Rudy Matanane and the Guam Education Board? Although board members covered a myriad of concerns during last evening’s board meeting, some members were at a loss as to why their mayor representative was absent.

During the course of the GEB meeting, board member Ron McNinch took to social media echoing the concerns of the board writing: “Since the Mayor’s Council rep doesn’t show up for the Guam Education School Board meetings, I am going to have my right index finger serve in this spot instead.”

Similarly, Board Member Maria Gutierrez voiced concerns right after roll call, seeking clarification on the mayor’s seemingly unexplained absence.

In response, GEB Chairman Peter Alecxis Ada remarked, “I have communicated quite a few times with Mayor Matanane, asking him if he is going to be participating. He did say yes, but why he is not here, again I have no idea, I will communicate again tomorrow. But for tonight’s meeting, we will regrettably have to put him as an unexcused absence.”

Meanwhile, the Yigo mayor did not immediately return our calls for comment as of news time.
