Employee of Cory’s Place & Another Man Arrested for Staging Robbery

Guam – Guam Police have arrested 2 men in connection with the November 29th robbery at Cory’s Place, A gaming room in Barrigada.

One of the suspects worked at Cory’s Place as a cashier and he and the second man are alleged to have staged the robbery.

According to GPD Public Information Officer A.J. Balajadia, the cashier reported being struck from behind with a  2 by 4 piece of wood and then claimed that the robbers grabbed his lanyard which held the keys to the cashier’s booth. The cashier reported that the robbers opened the cashier’s booth, stole some cash [the amount was not disclosed] and then fled on foot.

Last Friday, following an investigation of the incident, detectives with GPD’s Criminal Investigations Section arrested 23 year old Kalani Meno Aguon of Yigo, and 18 year old Akinino Swaiter of Barrigada. The pair have been booked and confined on charges of Guilt by Complicity, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Robbery. Officer Balajadia says Aguon was the cashier at the establishment.

According to Officer Balajadia, GPD Detectives believe that the cashier and a friend staged the robbery themselves.
