Guam – It appears the ongoing investigation into allegations of ethical misconduct against Republican Senator Jim Espaldon is moving forward.

In a release, the Committee on Ethics and Standards stated that a full investigation hearing will be held to provide an opportunity for Senator Espaldon to respond to the complaints waged against him.  The Republican lawmaker is accused of conflict of interest involving a Saipan-based company.

Ethics Chairman, Republican Senator Fernando Esteves said, “I want the public to know that the role of the ethics committee is not to act as the prosecution or defense. We are an unbiased body tasked with gathering information and forming a recommendation to the Legislature based on that information. I want to be clear that this hearing in no way infers guilt at this time.”

The hearing is closed to the public, unless an open hearing is made by Senator Espaldon.
