Ex-Yona mayor Jesse Blas sentenced to 37 months in federal prison

Ex-Yona Mayor Jesse Mendiola Blas has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison.

Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood handed down the sentence with credit for time served.

This means the former Mayor has 22 more months to serve.

He pleaded guilty to extortion admitting that he sold cluster mailbox units for profit and the illegal smuggling of methamphetamine.
