Monday is the feast of the Immaculate Conception, a day when island Catholics honor the island’s patroness saint, Santa Marian Kamalen.
The annual celebration is a government of Guam holiday and all GovGuam offices will be closed Monday.
Masses will be held Monday morning at the Cathedral-Basilica.
On Monday afternoon, many of the streets in downtown Hagatna will be closed as the statue of Our Lady of Kamalen is carried around the Cathedral during the traditional procession of the faithful.
In a message issued ahead of the celebrations on Monday, Archbishop Michael Byrnes encouraged everyone to carry the love of Jesus to others, especially to the people on Guam who are suffering.
