In Regional News – $5 Million dollars was provided to the Compact Trust fund for the People of the Marshall Islands by the U.S. Department of Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs.
According to the OIA – the $5 million dollar funding was provided for Fiscal Year 2022 by Congress, as a step toward the fulfillment of a U.S. Responsibility.
This will be economic compensation for the adverse financial and economic impacts in the Republic of the Marshall Islands after the U.S. Congress removed tax and trade provisions that were beneficial to the RMI.
