Guam – In response to Guahan Academy Charter School asking Governor Lou Leon Guerrero for the use of Tiyan Building E, Guam Department of Education Superintendent Jon Fernandez sent a letter of his own.
Earlier this morning, Superintendent Jon Fernandez sent a request to Governor Lou Leon Guerrero that her administration aid in improving the Tiyan campus facilities. Fernandez requested that Leon Guerrero identify $332,000 to complete the outfitting of the headquarters space, which would enable maintenance administrative functions to operate out of the second floor at Tiyan Building E.
This change would provide Guahan Academy Charter school with access to one floor of the building, according to the press release.
Fernandez also asked for access to the parking and warehouse space between GDOE and the Guam Trades Academy. Acquiring the warehouse would enable GDOE to provide space for the Emergency Food Assistance Program, which is currently in Piti, with an alternative location.
Fernandez said that improving the Tiyan facilities will create more opportunities for educational, commercial, and industrial uses.
