Ferreira Arrested On Vehicular Homicide Charge for April 23th Fatal Crash in Harmon


Guam – Guam Police today [Tuesday] arrested 51 year old Kurtis Vincent Ferreira of Toto in connection with the April 23rd  fatal accident on Route 16 in Harmon.

According to a release from Guam Police PIO Officer A.J. Balajdia, Ferreira was booked and confined on charges of Vehicular Homicide, Failure to Yield the right of Way, and No Drivers License.

Ferreira was driving a 1988 Mazda pickup which struck a 2007 Honda Civic.

The Mazda pickup was traveling north on Rt.16 on the inner lane towards Micro Mall. The Honda Civic was traveling south on the middle lane towards the under-pass.

Ferreira was making a left turn into the Shell Station when he allegedly failed to yield and collided with the Honda. At the time of the accident, Ferreira was also arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant.

72 year old Nelia C. Gumpal was inside the Honda and was killed in the accident.

There have been 10 traffic fatalities this year.
