A woman from Finland who was stuck on Guam during the beginning of the pandemic is now back in her home country after getting help from former governor Carl T.C. Gutierrez.

Finnish model Jenna Mäki-Patola was working in the Philippines and came to Guam for a gig when COVID-19 hit.

With her work visa expired, she couldn’t return to the Philippines because of the lockdown in that country and Guam with COVID. It was at this point that Gutierrez and his team took care of her. (Gutierrez wasn’t at the Guam Visitors Bureau yet.)

Months later, the embassy was able to get her to return to Finland through a flight from Japan.

Her story was picked up this week in the local Finnish media in her country and she’s promoting Guam and the kindness of the people she met.
