Guam – Fire investigators sifted through the damage Friday morning at the “People’s Bazaar 1” in Dededo’s Compadres Mall.
A Thursday night fire caused heavy damage to the interior of the Bazaar where 28 small business owners sold various wares and services.
Guam Fire Spokesman Captain Andy Arceo says the force of the blaze buckled the roof and for safety reasons, the neighboring First Hawaiian Bank Branch and the Pacific Eye Center had to be closed along with the Bazaar.
Compadres Mall President Richard Untlan said a portion of the roof will have to be replaced. He thinks some of the tenants maybe able to salvage some of their wares, but the interior of the Bazaar is nearly totaled.
It is not clear what caused the fire. Untalan suspects it may have been accidental. But fire investigators have not yet made a final determination.
