Guam -First Lady Joann G. Camacho will join George Lai, president of Quality Distributors, to make a food donation to the Salvation Army. The event is scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at the Salvation Army warehouse in Tiyan.
Donated items, valued at more than $30,000, include turkeys, hams, rice, canned goods, oil, flour, sugar and bottled water. The donation will be used by the Salvation Army to provide meals during their annual Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
“We’ve been doing this for nine years now and it never gets old. Giving is such a blessing and I’m truly blessed to be a part of this project. I want to thank George Lai of Quality Distributors, its staff and management and the Salvation Army who make this possible every year,” said First Lady Camacho.
The annual donation which seeks to provide warm home cooked meals for those less fortunate during the holiday season has provided more than $300,000 worth of food items over the past nine years.
“Giving during the holiday season is a tradition for Quality Distributors. It’s our way to give back to our community and especially let those who are less fortunate know we care,” said George Lai.
