Spear fisherman’s body pulled from Pago Bay Saturday night

The body of a fisherman was pulled from the water around Pago Bay over the weekend.

Guam Fire Chief Daniel Stone has confirmed that the body of a fisherman was pulled from the water around Pago Bay over the weekend.

“He was reported lost,” said the Chief in an interview with K57’s Patti Arroyo Monday morning. “Our crews responded (and) conducted their search and wound up recovering him.”

GFD Spokesman Kevin Reilly this morning reported that a call came into E-911 about 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. The man who called said he was spearfishing with another man who he lost sight of.

Reilly reports that GFD Rescue units 1 & 2 responded. The Coast Guard and a chopper from the Navy’s Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 also assisted in the search.

Rescue personnel found the man’s body inside the reef at Pago Bay shortly before 11 pm Saturday night, said Reilly.

The man was described as being in his late 40’s or early 50’s. His identity has not been released.
