Veranice Toves allegedly stole from the St. Francis Catholic Church over a two-year period.
Guam – The former finance manager of the St. Francis Church in Yona who allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from the church is now in custody.
Veranice Toves, 60, was wanted on a warrant of arrest that was issued last week but today she finally turned herself in at the Superior Court of Guam.
This afternoon she appeared before a judge for the first time. However, it’s not clear whether she was released from or taken into custody.
Toves allegedly was able to get away with falsifying and altering checks unnoticed for a two year period between March 2013 and May 2015.
A total of 95 check numbers were listed in the indictment that also had 23 charges that were filed against her.
